The Microsoft Security (MSec) Trust team ensures that security products comply with Microsoft policies and standards, and regulations related to privacy, cybersecurity, and responsible AI. The team also leads efforts to deliver enterprise-wide compliance solutions and contributes to best-in-class strategic compliance practices.

 

We are seeking a Principal Compliance Technical Program Manager with experience in community management, content creation, and strategy development, preferably within a privacy and compliance-focused environment.  The role is responsible for creating and managing content that enhances community engagement and awareness across compliance domains of privacy, cybersecurity, and Responsible AI.  This role involves developing strategies for onboarding team members and compliance champions, managing content strategy with MSec leadership, and ensuring effective communication within the MSec compliance community and partner Trust teams.

 

The ideal candidate should have exceptional communication and writing skills, experience with content management systems, and the ability to create engaging content. An engineering or compliance background, along with an understanding of communication best practices, is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, provide guidance to technical audiences, and build close relationships with key partners.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Communication, Marketing or related field AND 6+ years of experience in engineering, product/technical program management, or product management
    • OR equivalent experience. 
  • 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects. 

Other Requirements:

The ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Communication, Marketing or related field AND 10+ years of experience in engineering, product/technical program management, or product management
    • OR equivalent experience. 
  • 8+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects. 
  • Experience with and awareness of emerging privacy and data governance related regulations.

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Community Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to engage the MSec community, including organizing events, training sessions, and other interactive engagements.
  • Content Creation: Create and manage content for various platforms, including internal newsletters, SharePoint sites, and Teams channels, to keep the community informed and engaged.
  • Onboarding: Develop and manage onboarding programs for new team members and champions, ensuring they are well-integrated into the MSec compliance community.
  • Content Strategy: Develop and execute a content strategy that aligns with the goals of the MSec Trust team, ensuring consistent, effective, and timely communication (e.g., updated guidance, policies, Implementation Guides for new regulations, etc.).
  • Change Management: Manage the change management process for internal team documentation, ensuring updates are communicated effectively and efficiently.
  • Auditable Publication Process: Follow an auditable publication process when introducing new content on externally facing channels to the MSec community, ensuring compliance and transparency.
